Crafting a Vision

Every worthy dream and goal needs a great path to get you there. And while I am all for doing things spur of the moment, trying new things and having adventures, I do believe that having a solid vision is important to living a mindful life.

Whatever you have on your plate or ahead of you, having a vision and a plan can help you to find focus and get yourself from Point A to Point B and beyond.

When I started this blog, I had been following other career and PR girl blogs like NYC PR Girls, PR Blonde, Kayla Hollatz, and PR Couture for a while. I’ve had dreams and goals of working in PR since I was a teenager. As I worked my way through college towards a bachelor’s in PR and, later, a master’s in media arts, I relied on blogs and the internships and classes I had to help guide me in the direction I wanted to go.

What I realized after graduating and moving on into the real world is that not all PR is the same and there was no one giving a voice to PR girls and guys in the smaller cities between New York and Los Angeles. Not everyone is going to get to those big cities right off the bat.

After reading what all of these fabulous PR ladies had to say, I began to think I might have a voice to add to this conversation. I still feel that I do. To me, it seemed that, while the content already out there was great, these blogs I loved were leaving a void for aspiring PR pros like myself.

My vision for this blog has been to give a voice to every PR pro working somewhere other than a huge agency or firm. There are so many other PR jobs that are forgotten because they’re not quite as glamorous.

That’s how PR Girl Diaries became what it is. I hope you’ll each continue to grow with me and follow your own vision!
