A Datebook Can Change Your Life

This month, I found a really cool way to connect with other bloggers from all over and I couldn’t be more excited. The B Bar announced it would begin hosting blog link ups on its blog, The Well, by posing a question each month and inviting fellow bloggers to write a post and share their link to be include on other participating blogs.

January’s question:

What did you purchase in the past year that became invaluable to you?

I like to think of myself as an organized person. I keep track of everything and, even if my spaces look messy or cluttered to everyone else, I know where everything is. As organized as I may be, I never had luck when looking for a datebook. Until I found this one:
IMG_0685This is an Arc notebook from M by Staples. I happened upon it early last year while wandering through Staples looking for things to reoutfit my home office. Not only do I love the cover (and the fact that it came with a few others I could choose from), but I love that the notebook is entirely customizable. Every other datebook I had tried before had something I didn’t like about it – the calendar boxes weren’t big enough, the book was too big for my purse, it was too bulky, the note pages were no good, etc.

The Arc notebook has a variety of pages and pockets. I chose the calendar pages, note pages, project outlines and to do pages – things I had been looking to find in a datebook for a long time. The other nice thing about the Arc system is that you can add your own pages with anything that you might need with a special punch that cuts the pages to fit the Arc discs. Unlike other datebooks, you can use this book year after year by switching out the pages.

Huh – I’ve never seen a datebook like this before. Thanks for the introduction. I’m certainly an agenda-using girl, but I often opt for something quite small (and then pair it with a larger notebook like a Moleskine).

I actually have this notebook in 2 sizes: The large one is the one pictured and there’s a half-size one too, that’s the size of a typical agenda!

A good planner is everything!! Mine has already made the biggest difference this year. I totally agree – customizable is really important. Love finding your blog through the linkup! xo

It’s funny, even though I have my work, meetings and appointments in Google Calendar, I’m still so attached to my physical planner! There’s something about writing it down that just feels so much more concrete. 🙂

    Always, Anita

There’s something about physically writing things down that makes such a difference to me. Whether it’s in a planner or a to do list, I can’t function without it!

Reusable is always a plus! I’ve seen those date books but never really checked them out. They sound great though, and how cool is it that you can add whatever pages you want just by using a special punch? I love it! I’m hoping that the new date book I got for this year will prove to be pretty great, but it’s not reusable…
